Singing and piano lessons
Ava McDermott is a vocalist and composer from Melbourne. Trained in both classical and jazz styles, her practice draws from a range of musical traditions and techniques, with a significant focus on improvisation.
Ava has tutored in beginner piano and voice for the last two years at Northcote Primary School, KIDKO performing arts school as well as private tutoring.
Ava has a wide scope of performance experience ranging from the Melbourne Recital Centre to 3MBS Live and to important Melbourne jazz venues including the Brunswick Green and The Jazzlab, performing with leading Australian jazz and classical musicians such as James Sherlock, Andrea Keller, Gian Slater, Dermott Tutty and Sandy Evans.
In 2022, Ava was awarded the prestigious Margaret Schofield Memorial Scholarship for her high-achieving VCE performance results and dedication to a career in music performance.
In 2023, Ava is completing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz & Improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts, studying with Michelle Nicolle and Gian Slater.
